Start By:
a. Remove the output transfer gears.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool
Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat�
products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.
When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of
the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a
component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work
under a heavy component.
Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces
where parts are to be installed.
1. Drain the oil from the output transfer gears into a suitable container.

2. Mount output transfer gears (1) on Tooling (A), as shown. The weight of output transfer
gears (1) is approximately 317 kg (700 lb).
3. Remove bolts (5) in order to remove flanges (6) and cover (7). Remove plug (4) and the O-
ring seal. Remove bolts (2) in order to remove cover (3) and the O-ring seal from case (8).
4. Remove bolt (9) from the yoke.

5. Remove yoke (13) from case (14). Remove bolts (10) in order to remove flanges (11) and
cover (12) from case (14).
6. Remove seal (15) from yoke (13).
7. Remove bolts (16) in order to remove cover (17) from case (14).

8. Remove bolt (18) from the yoke.
9. Remove yoke (19) from case (8).
10. Remove seal (21) and bearing race (20) from yoke (19).

11. Remove bolts (22) and remove bolts (23) in order to remove cover (24) from case (8). Use
Tooling (B), if necessary.
12. Remove O-ring seal (25) and O-ring seal (26) from cover (24). Remove nut (28) and tube
(27).

13. Attach Tooling (C) to case (8). Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (C). Remove bolts
(29). Remove case (8) from case (14). The weight of case (8) is approximately 50 kg
(110 lb).
14. Remove bolts (30) and remove bolts (31) in order to remove cage (32) from case (8). Use
Tooling (B), if necessary.
15. Remove O-ring seals (33) from cage (32).

16. Use Tooling (D) to remove bearing cup (34) from cage (32).
17. Remove shim pack (35) from case (8).
18. Remove bolts (36) and remove bolts (37) from retainer (38).

19. Use Tooling (B) in order to remove retainer (38) from cover (8).
20. Remove O-ring seal (39) and O-ring seal (40) from retainer (38).
21. Use Tooling (E) in order to remove seal (41) from retainer (38).

22. Use a suitable press in order to remove bearing (42) (not shown) from retainer (38).
23. Remove tube (43) and the elbows. Remove O-ring seal (44) from case (8). Remove bearing
race (45) and bearing race (46).
24. Remove retainer (47) from the gear.

25. Remove gear (48) and gear (49) from case (14).
26. Use Tooling (F) in order to remove bearing (50) from gear (49).
27. Repeat Step 26 in order to remove the bearing from the other side of gear (49).
28. Remove retaining ring (51) from gear (48).

31. Remove bolts (53) and remove bolts (54) in order to remove shroud (55) from case (14).
32. Remove gear (56) from case (14).

33. Use Tooling (F) in order to remove bearing cone (57) from gear (56).
35. Remove plate (58), seal (59), bearing cup (60), tube (61), and the elbows from case (14).
36. Remove shaft (62). Remove bolts (63) in order to remove cage (64) from case (14).

37. Remove bearing race (65) and bearing race (67). Remove elbow (66) from cage (64).
38. Remove bearing race (68) and bearing cup (70). Remove elbow (69) from cage (64).
39. Remove gear (71) and gear (73). Remove seal (72) from case (14).

40. Remove retaining ring (74) from gear (71).
43. Use Tooling (F) in order to remove bearing cone (76) from gear (73).
44. Repeat Step 43 in order to remove the bearing cone from the other side of gear (73).

45. Remove shaft (77). Remove bearing race (78). Remove retainer (79) from case (14).
46. Remove bolts (80) in order to remove retainer (81) and the O-ring seal. Remove bolts (82)
and remove bolts (83) in order to remove cage (84) from case (14). Use Tooling (B), if
necessary.
47. Remove O-ring seals (85). Remove bearing cup (86) from cage (84).

48. Remove shim pack (87) from case (14).

49. Remove bolts (88). Remove solenoid and relief valve (89) from case (14).

50. Remove two caps (92), two nipples (91) and the O-ring seals. Remove fittings (90) and the
O-ring seal. Remove O-ring seals (93) and O-ring seal (94) from solenoid and relief valve
(89).
51. Remove plugs (95) the O-ring seals. Remove valve (96).
52. Remove O-ring seal (97) and backup ring (98). Remove O-ring seal (99) from relief valve
(96).
