1. Objectives:
Vocabulary practice and consolidation: summer activities
Level: beginner, elementary (A1)
Key words: Skydiving, swimming, snorkeling, travelling,
sunbathing, reading a book, visiting friends, playing
volleyball, tennis, football, basketball, listening to music,
eating fruit and vegetables, cooking.
Write an postcard to a friend from a holiday spot on the
chosen picture.
Grammar clinic: Revision of Present continuous tense to
be +Ving
2. Resources and material needed:
Internet connection and a screen to display students
activities and outcomes.
A4 sheets of paper, color pencils, pictures related to
summer holiday activities.
Glue stick

Part 1.
Ideal summer day
Students close their eyes and imagine a place they are
having their summer vacation.
Students give feedback.
Place, people, activities…..
Part 2
Pair or group work
Students choose one of the pictures as the best place to
spend their summer holiday and give reasons for their
choice.
10. TOP ___ DO’S AND TOP __DON’TS
DURING YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAY
Group work
Students make a list of their ideas: 2 POSTERS of DO’s
and Don’ts.
Students present it to the class.
Group discussion – generating ideas.
11. Vocabulary practice
Students will revise the learnt expressions and words so
they could use them in writing a postcard.
They are free to use vocabulary which will be displayed on
the screen (from www.wordle.net)
12. Writing a postcard
Students will have to write a postcard to a friend or
family member. 20-30 words.
They will be given a postcard paper and stick on it the
chosen picture before. Pictures related to the topic
summer-holidays can be taken from magazines,
newspapers or posters.
