23. Aquaplanning
Aquaplanning occurs when a layer of water builds between the tyres and the
road surface, leading to the loss of grip of the tyres and loss of control of the
vehicle. GITI’s research teams have been working to design innovative tread
design to efficiently evacuate the water from the tyre to prevent aquaplanning
while maintaining optimum grip for good handling and safety.

Rolling Resistance
It’s a fact: to travel on land, you need energy.
To reduce fuel consumption, the impact of the forces opposing the movement of
the vehicle must be reduced. For the last few years, GITI’s research teams have
been working to reduce rolling resistance by adding silica to the tyre rubber
compounds in order to reduce the the rolling resistance while maintaining the grip
of the tyre
