This document defines pollution and discusses its types, causes, effects, and ways to control it. It explains that pollution occurs when harmful substances are added to the environment, polluting air, water, and soil. The three main types of pollution are air, water, and soil pollution. Human activities like electricity production, waste disposal, industrial accidents, and excessive pesticide use can cause pollution. Pollution's effects include damage to human health, plants, animals, and materials. It can be controlled through methods like using substitutes, penalties, reducing waste, and proper disposal.

3. Pollution
What is Pollution?
Pollution is the adding up of harmful substances and
unwanted toxic wastes into the environment. When,
Pollution adds up harmful wastes into the
environment, different elements of the environment
including – air, water, soil, etc. become polluted.
Help. Ho!
Will anyone
save me from
this pesky
pollution,? It
is throttling
me.
4. Types of Pollution
So, as I said when pollution occurs in the
environment, it causes problems to the elements of
the environment which are- water, air, and soil, it
mean these elements one by one are polluted
separately, and they make up the three types of
pollution. Thus, there are three types of pollution,
which are:-
1. Air Pollution
2. Water Pollution
3. Soil Pollution
5. Examples of “Water and Air Pollution” in real
life
Water Pollution Air Pollution
7. Human Causes of Pollution [part 1]
Some human activities such as the generation of
electricity, disposal of waste, production of goods, and
farming can cause pollution.
Generating electricity by burning fossil fuels and
biomass can result in harmful gases like, carbon
dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, polluting
the environment.
Pollution also occurs when people dispose of their
waste on land.
Accidents that occur during industrial activities can
also cause serious pollution to the land, sea and air. For
instance, chemicals may leak from factories, polluting
the air along, with cause harm to living beings.
8. Human Causes of Pollution {part 2}
When, farmers use a lot of pesticides and chemical
fertilizers on their land, the excess chemicals which
are not absorbed by the crops may be washed by rain
waters into rivers and seas, polluting the water. Rain
water carrying such waste may also seep into the
ground and pollute the ground water.
9. Effects of Pollution
Pollution has undesirable effects on the environment. Some of
these effects are given below :-
1. Damage to human health
2. Damage t0 plant life
3. Damage t0 animal life
4. Damage t0 materials
10. Why Pollution
is harmful?
Answer: As, I said
that pollution is the
adding into the
environment of
harmful, unwanted
substances and which
have effects on the
elements of the
environment which
are essential for the
living beings, so this
also creates some
negative and
unpleasant problems
which, cause the
living beings
including human
beings, plants,
animals, birds to
suffer and also
eventually, die.
So, today pollution is a serious
problem. It will have to be
stopped.
11. Controlling Pollution
Pollution caused by human activities can also be
controlled by a number of measures, such as :-
using substitutes
imposing penalties
practicing the 3Rs (reduce, recycle, reuse)
using pollution control equipments
using proper waste disposal methods
