● To create and an environment where staff can grow within the industry
Benjamin Bosch – Full Time Dairy Farm Assistant, age 17
Individual contract agreement, Permanent from 1st June 2014.
● Realised we needed a full time worker to be able to keep the farm up to a high
standard
● No staff accomodation on this farm
● Idealy looking for someone already living close to the farm
● Ben employed as relief milker 2013/2014, some weekends & during our holiday
● Ben was 16 at the time, experience from working on home farm
● Ben ticked all the boxes; A hard worker who lived just around the corner from us
● An opportunity not to be missed
● Ben approched us about work when he finished school
● We approached Gary & Anne
● Realised we needed a full time worker to be able to keep the farm up to a high
standard
● No staff accomodation on this farm
● Idealy looking for someone already living close to the farm
● Ben employed as relief milker 2013/2014, some weekends & during our holiday

Retention
● Keeping weekly time sheets to control hours worked.
● Allowed working 118,5 hours/fortnight in order to stay within legal requirement
of minimum wage.

$44,000/year / 26 weeks = $1692,30/ fortnight
$14,25/h x 118,5h/fortnight = $1688.60
● Salary paid into bank account fortnightly.
● Pay advise given fortnightly.
● A non-taxable cell phone allowance of $20 paid into Ben's account monthly
● Ben has chosen not to be a member of KiwiSaver
● Performance review interview held three times yearly.
● Training and development plan to follow up the performance review.
● Sharing his goals with us.
● Employee records kept to record hours worked, wages, holidayand leave.

signed off.
● Already signed up for level 4 course at Taratahi in 2015
● Health & Safety course started (Quad bike, Chainsaw, Tractor)

● A Hazard map with emergency phone numbers for contactors to bring out on the
farm
● PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided: Earmuffs, Quadbike helmets,
Chainsaw helmet with visor, Chaps, Safety mit, Goggles, Gloves, Overalls
