Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed form of the
disease in the United States. Though men can develop breast cancer,
the disease is much more common in women.
Women can take a number of steps to mitigate the risk of breast
cancer. For example, frequent exercise and a healthy weight can help
women maintain normal estrogen levels. Excess estrogen in the body
can lead to the development of breast cancer in and around the
body’s hormone receptors.

3. Breast Cancer
 Alcohol consumption has also been proven to correlate with
breast cancer rates. Similar to obesity, alcohol consumption
can yield unhealthy levels of estrogen.
Medical professionals advise patients to refrain from
smoking for a number of reasons. Though smoking has been
linked to the development of breast cancer, women who
receive a breast cancer diagnosis and continue to smoke
have demonstrated a much lower survival rate than
nonsmokers.
Annual mammograms, particularly after the age of 40, are
early intervention measures that can contribute to cancer
survival.
