 A clinical psychologist with over four decades of
experience, Donald “Don” Crowe, PhD, operates a
private practice in Orinda, California. Throughout his
career, Don Crowe, PhD, has assisted individuals,
families, and couples using a variety therapeutic
approaches, including the Gottman Method.
Developed by Dr. John Gottman and his wife, Dr. Julie
Gottman, Gottman Method Couples Therapy aims to
help couples improve communication, develop trust,
enhance intimacy, and manage conflict within their
relationships.

3. Gottman Method Couples Therapy
 Based on decades of research, the method has been shown
to help couples avoid unhelpful patterns and cope with
issues that negatively affect marriages.
Consisting of five parts, the Gottman Method starts with
an assessment phase and proceeds through therapeutic
exercises and sessions that are based upon a couple’s
individual needs. Couples phase out of treatment and
eventually terminate therapy once they begin sustaining
positive changes and develop a follow-up plan designed to
help them avoid relapsing into unhealthy patterns of
behavior.
