Why are Elect ronic Cigaret t es Being Banned?
E- cigarette bans are spreading like wildfire as the popular new alternative to traditional cigarettes gains ground. Cities
in New York, Chicago, Texas and other parts of the country, as well as areas in Canada and Europe are seeing
electronic cigarette bans popping up everywhere that smoking is prohibited.
It begs the question WHY? Why are elect ronic cigaret t es being banned? I have my theories, but we'll get to that in
a minute.
In the meantime, let's consider what these bans are doing to the people that are uisng e- cigs as a bridge to quit
smoking. Electronic cigarettes simulate smoking by vaporiz ing a liquid that may or may not contain nicotine; it's up to the
'smoker'. These aren't tobacco cigarettes and there is no actual "smoke" . . . it's vapor. Hence the term 'vaping'. But ecigarettes are ideal subsitute for smokers trying hard to kick the habit.
So why are electronic cigarettes being banned?

2. Is it because it looks like smoking? I doubt it. It doesn't take a trained eye to see the difference. And there's no smell, so
that can't be it. And while there haven't been any long term studies regarding the use of e- cigarettes, let's not pretend
that health is the motivating factor here.
What does it always come down to? Money. It's easy to imagine the tobacco lobby throwing it's weight (and it's siz eable
wallet) around in an effor to avoid losing any more of the 'smoking' market. This is big business afterall.
