Indians spend 70% of their mobile internet time using social media and entertainment apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, and music apps, compared to only 50% for Americans. The average time spent on mobile apps each day is lower for Indians at 200 minutes compared to 300 minutes for Americans. Facebook and WhatsApp alone account for 38% of Indian's mobile internet time, which is far greater than the 18% share in the US dominated by those apps. As data costs decrease in India, there is opportunity for entrepreneurs to build apps catering to the Indian market.
