It is a short description report about LIQUOR SCENARIO in MAHARASHTRA STATE.

1. MAHARASHTRA STAE OR LIQUOR STATE ???
My dear friends and respected teachers today we are going to discuss about the LIQUOR scenario
in Maharashtra. As we know Government of Maharashtra gave permission to new 36 wineries for
LIQUOR production with the help of grains.
Now-a-days whatever our ministers our saying about LIQUOR production is it true???
No friends it is not true at all! Our ministers are saying that WINERIES WILL HELPS FARMERS TO
STRENGTHEN THEIR FININCIAL CONDITION & ULTIMATELY REDUCES THE SUCITATON.
Now you may thinking that why it is not true? So let me tell you some interesting facts behind it….
Government of Maharashtra gave permission to 36 wineries in state. Some of them have already
start production. So I have some doubts in my mind. Now I would like to ask to our Government.
(1) Does Maharashtra have excess of grains to divert it to the LIQUOR production?
Ans. No, Maharashtra is still lagging in the field of grain production. We are unable to fulfill our own
need of grains. According to the survey of INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH (ICMR) 400
grams of grains (BELOW THE DAILY AVERAGE NEED) consumed by person per day in India.
So,
Grains consumed per person per day = 400grams
Grains consumed per person per year = 150 kg
Population of Maharashtra state = 105 millions
Required grains per year for Maharashtra state = 160 Lac Ton
Current availability of grains = 123 Lac Ton
The above calculation clearly shows that Maharashtra state can not fulfill own needs. In this situation
it is not possible to divert grain to LIQUOR production.
(2) How much amount of grain will be used for this LIQUOR production?
Ans. Government of Maharashtra permitted 36 wineries, if this wineries use full strength then they
need 14 Lac Ton grains every year which can feed 93 Lac people & this need will be rise as per
every year. When SUPREME COURT asked to Government of Maharashra what is basic need of
people LIQUOR or FOOD. Then the Government of Maharashra replied we are decided to use
rotten grains.
(3) Is it true that they will use only rotten grain for liquor production?
Ans. No it is not true at all as all 36 wineries need 14 Lac Tons of grain every year which
approximately 38% of total grain production. And who will give guarantee that every year 38% of
grain will be rotten rain? And the LIQUOR is of export quality so will they seriously use only rotten
grain?
If they only use rotten grain then also it is not good because in today’s food scenario rotten grain is
also consumed by lower class people. So if we use this rotten grain then who will feed the lower
class people?
(4) If they use good grain then what will be effects of this in public food security ?
Ans. Yes, obviously it will affect the public food security because 38% grains will be diverted to
LIQUOR production and it will create big shortage.

2. (5) Will it going to increase financial strength of farmers ?
Ans. No, it is not going to increase financial strength of farmers. Indirectly it will affect their health
due to excess in drinking of LIQUOR as it will be easily available to them.
If our Government of Maharashra is still defending then I would like to ask them that if they really
want to help farmers then why they don’t give permission for wineries to FARNERS UNITED
ASSOCIATION! Why Government of Maharashra gave permission only to the politicians and their
close relatives only? And if they really wants to help the farmers in then why only four wineries are
permitted for LIQUOR production where the maximum farmer sucites occurs.
Now above we discuss about the LIQUOR PRODUCTION and from above discussion we can
conclude that Government of Maharashra is more interested in LIQUOR PRODUCTION than FOOD
& HEALTH SECURITY. But do you know who Government of Maharashra is?
Government of Maharashra means all politicians include each and every minister. Now let me tell
you that this all wineries are owned by politicians and their close relatives.
BENEFITS FOR WINWERY OWNERS (POLOTICIANS & THEIR CLOSE RELATIVES) :Manufacturing cost of 1 litre of liquor = Rs.25/Price of 1 litre of liquor = Rs.750/- (approx)
Liquor production from all wineries = 1.5 Million litre
Total price of this liquor = Rs.2500 Billions
It means LIQUOR KING i.e. WINERY OWNERS i.e. POLITICIANS will own the ELECTION
PROCEDURE with this huge money and they will rule the system as they want.
EFFECTS ON POPULATION OF MAHARASHTRA STATE :Winery owner will attract the people to drink their product to gain more and more profit. Ultimately it
will lead to the health problems. As the INDIA is developing country population is the most valuable
and important aspect in the process of becoming developed country. So it is very essential to limit
this huge amount of LIQUOR.
SUGGETIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT OF MAHARASHTRA STATE :Permit of all 36 wineries should be cancel temporarily.
Government of Maharashra should appoint one committee for investigation in this case while giving
permission to the wineries.
WHAT WE CAN DO?

Most important decision that we can take is never to drink liquor
