The Loretto Chapel in Santa Fé, New Mexico has attracted visitors with the mystery of its staircase for over 130 years. When the chapel was completed, there was no staircase to reach the second level. The nuns prayed to St. Joseph for 9 days and then a carpenter appeared and built the staircase without any nails or central support. It is considered miraculous as the wood type does not exist locally and the staircase remains balanced without visible means of support. The staircase has 33 steps, matching the age of Jesus Christ at his death, fueling belief it was built with divine intervention.
