Thirty-one (31) day passes are valid for thirty-one (31) consecutive days (i.e. Monday- Sunday. Holidays
and weekends are considered as consecutive days, although bus service may not be provided). The first
day of the pass begins when the passenger first uses the pass and is valid for the next thirty-one (31)
consecutive days.
Passes can be purchased at the OCT office or on board the buses from the driver.
No refunds will be given for 31-day passes. OCT is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged passes.
*Disabled citizens are eligible for a Reduced Fare with valid Okaloosa County Transit Reduced Fare ID
card. In order to be eligible to ride the bus at the Reduced Fare an application must be completed and
approved. Reduced Fare Applications may be obtained at OCT offices in Fort Walton Beach
(600 Transit Way) or Crestview (198 S Wilson Street) or calling 850-833-9173, also available onboard all
WAVE transit vehicles or by downloading at www.rideoct.org. Mail, drop off, or fax the form to 850-
833-9286. MEDICARE (not Medicaid) cards will still be accepted as proof of eligibility for Reduced
Fare. Reduced Fare rides will not be offered after January 1, 2009 without a valid
Reduced Fare ID Card.
Electronic fare boxes and bus operators do not make change. If change is owed after payment of bus fare,
the fare box will issue a change card, not cash. Change cards are redeemable for bus fare only, not cash.
Change cards will not be issued for less than 10¢.
Students and/or children with a height equal to or shorter than the top of the farebox ride free with a paying adult.

BEFORE BOARDING: Have your OCT Reduced Fare ID Card available, if applicable. Have unfolded bills,
coins or pass ready. Wait for bus driver’s instruction before using farebox.
CASH: Drop coins one at a time in the Coin Insertion Cup (A). Feed flat, unfolded bills (in any orientation) into
the Bill Insertion Slot (B). The farebox will “beep” when correct fare has been accepted.
TRANSFERS: Transfers are valid for 2 hours after purchase. If you require a transfer first pay the base fare, re-
quest a transfer from the bus driver. When prompted by the driver, insert $.25 into the coin cup (A). Transfer card
will be issued (C). The expiration time will be printed on the back of the transfer ticket. If the 2 hour period ex-
pires, you must pay base fare again. Please do not purchase a transfer if it will not be redeemed within (2) hours.
Transfers cannot be used as a return trip for the same route.
31-DAY PASS: Pass must be validated for first use, insert pass in slot (C). The farebox will print the first-used
date on the back of your pass. The 31-Day Pass is valid for 31 consecutive calendar days (i.e. Monday- Sun-
day. Holidays and weekends are considered as consecutive days, although bus service may not be provided). After
the pass has been validated, the farebox will “beep” and return your pass. On your next trip, slide 31-day pass
through swipe slot (D). The farebox will “beep” when your pass has been accepted.

deviation. There may be times due to route deviations when buses
run a little later than scheduled.

7. WAVE / SHUTTLE RULES
For your safety, buses stop only at designated bus stops.
No smoking
Alcoholic beverages may not be consumed.
No open containers of food or drink.
No pets are allowed, except for service animals.
Please do not litter on the bus or at bus stops.
Shoes and shirts are required.
No profanity or loud talking.
Music should be heard only through earphones.
No weapons of any kind including, but not limited to:
Firearms, knives of any length, composition or description.
Cutting instruments, including carpet knives and box cutters (and spare
blades), any device with a folding or retractable blade, ice picks,
straight razors.
For your safety, WAVE buses are equipped with audio and video recording
equipment. WAVE passengers are subject to having their voice and image recorded.
Riding the WAVE is a privilege, please do not abuse it by behaving in a way that
offends other customers or affects the safe operation of the bus.

10. Planning Your Trip
When planning your trip, look at your stop location and times.
Also look at your destination and decide which bus will get you
there the quickest. After you have planned your trip, go to the
nearest bus stop. Look for your bus. Board the bus, pay your fare
and relax in temperature controlled comfort.
TRANSFERS
You may need to take more than one bus to reach your destination.
Transfers are valid for one trip on the next connecting bus and may be
purchased for 25¢. Transfers must be used on the next connecting bus
and will expire two (2) hours after being issued.
Transfers are accepted on Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 20, 30, 32 & 33.
Transfers will be issued, but not accepted on WAVE Express, Route 14.
Please do not purchase a transfer if it will not be redeemed within (2)
hours. Transfers cannot be used as a return trip for the same route.

ANNOUNCE STOPS
Please inform the driver when you board the vehicle if you are
visually impaired or need assistance identifying your stop.
It is helpful to sit toward the front of the bus if you need assistance.
All buses are equipped with bicycle carriers. The carriers are located
on the front of the shuttle. Riders with bikes are required to properly
secure their bike to the front of the vehicle following the simple three
step process printed on the carrier. Notify the driver that you are going
to remove your bike when you arrive at your stop.
OCT cannot be held responsible for any damage to your bicycle
caused by the carrier.
