The
Inside-Out
   Girl
Once upon a time there was a little girl
just about your age. She lived in a town
much like this town. She went to a school
just like this school.
One day she was out for recess, she
was very excited to play with the other
children. As she ran over to join them
something awful happened.
Do you want to know
what happened?
Just as she approached the group
one of the children yelled out…

“You can’t play with us!”

“Your eyes are too small, your nose is
too long, your ears are too big, and
your hair is all wrong!”
All the children laughed and ran away,
leaving the girl all alone. Tears came to
her eyes as she went over to the swings
pretending it did not bother her. Even
though she wiped her tears, her heart
still cried.
That night she went
to bed and wished a
secret wish. She wished
that she was inside-out,
so that others could
see what their words
brought about.
The next day she went to school and an
amazing thing happened. Whenever
someone called her a name, a bruise
would suddenly appear. One boy called
her four eyes, another said she was stupid.

After many days the girl had so many
bruises that the children wondered how
she got so hurt.

“Why are you all purple, black and blue?
What happened who did this to you?”
they asked.
The girl replied, “I wished a secret wish
because I wanted you to see, what your
words do inside of me. So I wished that I was
inside-out so that you could see what your
words bring about.”

The Children felt very bad they did not
realize what their words could do.
That night the girl lay curled up in her bed.
She had so many bruises because of what
children said. But in the quietness of her
heart she heard a still small voice that said,
“You are a Shining STAR meant to shine near
and far.”
The Inside Out Girl felt something new,
something she had never felt before; a tingle
in her heart and somehow she knew that
what she heard was true.
The next day she went to school and the
children began to say nice things to her.
Surprisingly, a wonderful thing started to
happen. Her bruises began to fade and her
face began to shine and suddenly everyone
realized what was happening all the time.
Harsh words bruise and wound, but kind
words really can heal; everyone has feeling
and they are very real.
Sometimes the children would forget and
say things that were unkind, but the Inside
Out Girl would always remember the still
small voice that visited her that night and
said, “You are a Shining STAR meant to shine
near and far.” And deep down inside her
heart she knew that it was true.

Tea Lady Sing Along

               Stop, Wait, Listen
Stop, Wait , Listen…
How will my words make others feel?
I can CHOOSE with the words I use to bring a
smile or a tear!

Stop, Wait, Listen…
Stop, Wait, Listen…

I…. can choose with the words I use…
to cause someone to hurt…
or help someone to heal…
I should Stop, Wait, and Listen before I say a
word to you.

I should ask myself, how will my words make
someone feel…I can CHOOSE with the
words I Use to bring a smile or a tear!

Stop, Wait, Listen….
Stop, Wait, and Listen.
