QBasic (Quick Beginners All purpose Symbolic Instruction
Code) is an interpreter for a variety of the BASIC
programming language which is based on QuickBASIC.
It was invented by two Dartmouth College professors, John
Kemeny and Tom Kurtz in 1964-It was invented by two

3. QBASIC Elements
To construct the QBASIC program, we have to arrange some
standard elements.The elements used in Qbasic are as
follows-
1. Character set
2. Variables
3. Constants
4. Operator and Operands Expression Statements
4. Character set
A set of characters that are allowed to use in QBASIC is
known as the QBASIC Character Set. The QBASIC Character
Set consists of alphabets (both small and capital), numbers
(0 to 9) and special characters.
QBASIC has the character set consisting of the following
elements: Alphabets: A, B, C,....Z Digits: 0, 1, 2........,9 and
Special characters: + - * / ( ) . , $ ; ,: ,= ,> ,< , ^

6. Keyword
Keywords are those words which have special meanings in
QBASIC. Keywords are formed by using characters of
QBASIC Characters Set.
The keywords are also called Reserved Words. Some
reserved words are CLS, REM, INPUT, LET, PRINT, FOR, DO,
SELECT, MID$, ASC, SQR, LEN, LEFT$, TIME$ and INT.
