RE: Letter of Recommendation for Connell Wise
I am happy to recommend and serve as a reference for Connell Wise. I supervised some of
Connell’s assignments when he served as an intern for the Office of the Attorney General
for the District of Columbia (“OAG”) in spring 2014. In addition, I have personally known
Connell for several years, although most of our contact has been related to projects or
events he has been working on while serving the District in some capacity. Connell is very
task oriented and enjoys researching and offering solutions to complex issues, and I think
that he would thrive in any environment that allows him to use those skills.
While serving as an OAG intern Connell was required to analyze and critique legal as well
as policy documents, and thoroughly address questions posed by the supervisory attorney.
Connell timely completed all of his research assignments and he produced high quality
work in an efficient and effective manner. More importantly, Connell thinks outside the
box and enjoys research from every angle. For example, one of Connell’s assignments
pertained to a discrimination claim under the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”).
Connell not only researched the case law and regulations for support, but then on his own
accord, he went to the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights to discuss his
conclusions with an ADA Advisor before presenting his opinion on the question presented.
Connell takes his work very seriously and requires little supervision.
On a personal and professional level, Connell is very collegial and was well-respected in
OAG. He was enthusiastic about his work, and brought some great ideas to the table for
discussion. When Connell completed a project he proactively sought new work from the
attorneys and did not wait for someone to track him down with an assignment. In addition,
Connell took other new interns under his wing and helped them navigate office policies and
procedures, and personalities.
