Ten Rules for Project
    Management

         Paul Cristian Onofrei
10. Adopt practices for exploring a
variety of perspectives
  – We see only what we think
  – Make a habit to inquire what others see
  – More people => more perspectives

9. Stay close to your customer
  – Concerns from the part of the client evolves over the life of
    the project
  – Over-deliver to have an advantage
  – Stay in a conversation with the client for adjustment on
    what you are doing
8. Take care of your project team
  – To take care of the client we must first take care of the
    project team
  – It comes down to taking care of each member
    acknowledging his/her unique personality
  – Bring their various interests intro coherence

7. Keep your eye on the overall
project promises
  – Project work can be difficult
  – Easy to loose sight of what we are doing and why
  – Remind yourself and your team of the promises
6. Build relationship intentionally
  – Team members are initially strangers
  – To do great work you need people who care about each
    other
  – Start your projects by first building relationship among
    team members

5. Tightly couple learning with
action
  – Projects are wonderful opportunities to learn
  – Make a habit out of incorporating learning loops in all your
    project activities
  – every one will benefit from this
4. Coordinate meticulously
  – Project = ever-evolving network of commitment
  – Make the critical conversations
  – Without this, your project will drift

3. Collaborate. Really collaborate
  – Plan with the performers of the plan
  – Don’t wait to collaborate. Start out this way
  – Continue collaborating through the project
2. Listen generously
  – People don’t know how to communicate effectively
  – Be patience; listen carefully and ask questions
  – Seek others opinion
  – Don’t be harsh on yourself

1. Embrace uncertainty
  – Expect the unexpected
  – Anticipate to learn about promises and how to deliver on
    them
  – On setback review the other nine rules
