Our school has 874 pupils, their age range being from
11 to 19. “Dr. Mihai Ciuca” institution is the only high
school in this area, that is why its varied fields offer
its learners the possibility to prepare themselves at
the lowest costs in the desired domains. Taking into
 consideration the predominantly economic domains,
our school also prepares students in technological
fields such as textiles, food service and tourism.
However, the scholar
abandonment rate is high,
especially in the case of
those social groups with the
risk of social exclusion. This
is the situation of the
children who come f rom poor
f amilies or those who daily
commute to school f rom rural
areas, some of which are
over 40 km f ar. Another
social category with specif ic
needs are the gypsy pupils.
Although the gypsy
inhabitants (R roms) represent
almost 20 % in our town,
very f ew of their pupils

How keep our childrens in
         school? Finding solution,
         changing experiences
The increasing rate of
   unemployment and
   people’s limited financial
   resources are only two of
   the many factors that
   influenced the migration of
   many towns’ inhabitants to
   other European countries.
Almost 40 % of our school
   pupils have one/both
   parent(s) gone abroad,
   which really affects their
   family life, their behaviour
   and social relations, but
   also their school results
   and increase the rate for
   early school leaving.
This project will allow our students to improve their
language skills, to develop civic and democratic senses to
act as a good, responsible European citizen.
Also, the experiences of our partners is a very important
resource.
