2. What have I have learnt from
the start of this course:
• How to compose a magazine
• Developed my skills on Photoshop to create my Front Cover
• Different angle shots and their purposes to how this conveys different emotions
• The conventions of a Pop music magazine
• Developed understanding and learnt new media magazine terminology
• How to use different online sites and know how to use them for example: Pic
Monkey, Font Space, Poppet, and Prezi.
3. My induction task- school
magazine
Route of the eye is used with
the information guiding
through the route in which
the eye takes when looking
at a magazine. In this, I had
the masthead first then it
goes to the school name,
then to the pupils image,
then to the cover line and
then to the inside this issue
information and then to
more images.
For the induction task we
was asked to produce a
school magazine front
cover and make it typical
for a school magazine.
Using appropriate
conventions.
From this I learnt that school
magazine front covers have to have
an appropriate main central image
of something that Is related to the
school/ college and I did this by
including an image of a pupil holding
folders and books, in school uniform,
outside on the way to school to link it
to the cover line of ‘New start- New
school’ as this issue was issued at the
beginning of September. Also I made
the front cover conventional to a
school magazine from using suitable
fonts, making it clear and formal to
read with some serif fonts which
make the magazine look different a
bit more fun, for example I have
made the masthead with a
Technology or ‘ICT’ looing font to link
with the fact that it is a specialised
‘ICT’ and mathematics font.
To show that I have researched and found out that a school magazine is aimed
at parents and teenagers of the age of the college/school so this is why within
the typography and content the language is formal and address the audience
in a polite way but also has certain teenage aspects such as the ‘@’ symbol
instead of writing ‘at’ which makes it look fun and appealing to a teenage
audience, because they can relate to the ‘slang’ talk.
4. Finished Front Cover
This is my front cover for a pop music
magazine where I have used the skills
that I have learnt in the previous slides
to create this. I have learnt that the
main feature that I have to make the
magazine conventional to a pop
music magazine, and the annotations
around the image is to show what I
made sure that I included through
what I have learnt from the begging
of the course.
I have here learnt that I must make my
front cover of my pop magazine
suitable for a teenage female
audience I did this by having lots of
images to make it more colourful and
the images are of both female ‘role
models’ or male artists used as sex
appeal.
I also used the knowledge that I
have learnt from the beginning
of the course by using
www.fontspace.com and
producing a font that is suitable
for a pop magazine, I decided
that the one I used was
appropriate because it has
hearts within the font which
makes it appealing to a female
audience.
I made sure that the layout is
appropriate for a pop music
magazine because it is neat and
well organised. This is because
females tend to like things
organised and it is easy to follow
for teenagers. It also looks more
like a real pop magazine.
