1. CSWP ADVANCED SUMMER WRITING INSTITUTE
“TEACHING 21ST CENTURY WRITERS”
INFORMATION & APPLICATION
• Facilitators: Lesley Roessing, CSWP Director, and Donna Loyd, Associate Director
• Invited Participants: CSWP and NWP Summer Institute Fellows
• Cost: $1126 plus 2 books, fully covered by grant scholarships for first 16 applicants
• 3 graduate credit hours from AASU College of Education: FOUN 7100 Special Topics
• Date Option I: July 8-12, 9:00-4:00 and July 15 9:00-2:00
• Date Option 2: July 8-12, 9:00-3:00 and July 15, 9:00-3:00 and July16, 9:00-2:00
• 1/2 hour Lunch Break (Vouchers will be provided for Lunch-Discussion Days)
• Application Priority Deadline: March 25. 2013
• Final Application Deadline: April 29, 2013
• Application Fee: $25 payable to CSWP-AASU (Fee will be applied towards 2013-14
Literacy Conference registration for those who attend Advanced Institute); remit with
application
In the Advanced Institute, participants will
• share classroom practices and strategies
• study and collaborate on additional classroom strategies,
• examine Common Core State Standards in writing
• collaborate on infusing technology for writing and publishing
• each participant will share one tech tool used or learned
• learn about additional strategies for using 21st century technology*
• write, write, write, and publish one writing using one of the tech tools learned
*Guest presenter Sara Kajder, author of Bringing the Outside In; Adolescents and Digital
Literacies; Learning Alongside Our Students; The Tech Savvy Classroom; and Guiding Learning
with Technology, will work with the Advance Institute participants on tech tools for one entire
day of the Institute.
