1. 1. Modal Verbs Verbele modale.
Verbele modale primare ale limbii engleze sunt can, may, must, ought, shall
si will si exprima modalitatea în care este savârsita o actiune. Ele se folosesc
împreuna cu verbul de care depind si despre care ofera informatii:
I can go – eu sunt în stare sa merg, eu pot sa merg
I may speak - am permisiunea sa vorbesc
I must see - trebuie sa vad
I ought to know - am datoria sa stiu
I shall come – sunt decis sa vin
I will open - vreau sa deschid
CAN = BE ABLE TO = A FI IN STARE SA/A putea sa Forma negativa
I can go sunt în stare/eu pot sa merg I cannot go/I can’t go
you can go esti în stare/poti sa mergi you cannot go
she can go este în stare/poate sa mearga she cannot go
he can go este în stare/poate sa mearga he cannot go
we can go suntem în stare/putem sa mergem we cannot go
