2. The meaning of the word “Salvation” given in
the (Oxford Dictionary) is: the “fact or state of
being saved from sin AND ITS
CONSEQUENCES”.
3. 1. Separation from God. (Gen. 3:24).
2. Physical suffering pain and sorrow.
(Gen. 3:16, 17).
3. Spiritual conflict with Satan. (Gen. 3:15).
4. Poverty. (Gen. 3:16, 18, 19; Dt. 28:15-68).
4. In this particular study series on “Full Salvation” we are
going to have a look at how God being motivated by
great love and not willing that mankind should perish
eternally nor BE IMPOVERISHED IN THIS LIFE,
made PROVISION for man to be redeemed (or bought
back and set free) from the above consequences.
Many people’s concept of “Salvation” is limited to
salvation from sins (the new birth) and perhaps
physical healing. However the salvation that is offered
to us “IN CHRIST” is so FULL and COMPLETE as to
cover every aspect of our life and being, that we will
call it “FULL SALVATION”

5. Which involves:-
1. Salvation from sins (the new birth)
2. Salvation from the power of the flesh (i.e. Self
nature and the bias toward sin)
3. Salvation from the power of Satan (deliverance)
4. Salvation from physical affliction (divine healing)
5. Salvation from poverty (prosperity)

7. Before we study these various areas of salvation, it is
important for us to understand that the provision of
“full salvation” is ONLY AVALIABLE to us because of
what Jesus LEGALLY accomplished in
His DEATH
and
RESURRECTION.

8. a)Jesus died as our ‘substitute’
Substitute = “person acting or serving in place of another”
Jesus as our substitute – the INNOCENT suffering for the
GUILTY. (He took my whipping).
Rm 5:6- For when we were yet without strength, in due time
CHRIST DIED FOR THE UNGODLY.
Isa. 53:6- All we like sheep gone astray... THE LORD HATH
LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL.

9. b)Jesus made ‘atonement’ for our sins
Atone = to cover; to blot out.
Atonement – this word is used in the O.T. Where the
blood of an INNOCENT animal was shed to make a
“COVERING” for sins.
e.g. Lev. 16 On the Day of Atonement, the High Priest
was required to make an atonement (covering) for the
sins of Israel and himself, by the shredding of the blood
of certain animals.
This blood was then taken into the Holy of Holies
within the veil of the Tabernacle, and there blood was
sprinkled upon the mercy seat, thus making an
atonement (a covering) for the sins of the Israelites.

10. This atonement of the O.T. Is a type of coming ALL
SUFFICIENT SACRIFICE of the Lord Jesus Christ.
However types can give imperfect picture, and this
atonement type is so, for Jesus’ death does not just
cover our sins, but CLEANSES us from all our sins,
and this is a present CONTINUOUS PROCESS. (1 Jn.
1:7-9).
c)Jesus was our ‘propitiation’ for sins (Rm. 3:25; 1
Jn.2:2; 4:10)
Propitiate = to appease; gain forgiveness or favour of.
A pagan practise is to offer a sacrifice as a means of
appeasing the anger or displeasure of a god.
However in contrast, the biblical usage is not that of
satisfying the anger of a vengeful God.

11. Rather, we have sinned against a JUST God, and therefore
God requires the penalty of His broken laws (justice) to be
paid.
This was accomplished in the death of Jesus Christ who
died for our sins, in our place, satisfying the righteous
demands of a Just God. (Rm. 6:23- The wages of sin is
death.)
d)Jesus paid the ‘ransom’ for our redemption (Mt. 20:28;
1 Pet. 1:18, 19; 1 Tim. 2:6; 1 Cor. 7:23)
Ransom = the price paid to release a person or thing from
bondage.
Redeemer = the person who PAYS THE RANSOM PRICE
required and thus secures our redemption.

12. E.g. Lev. 25; 47-55 a slave could be released from his
bondage by someone paying the ransom price.
A slave under the authority of his master – in Rm. 7:14 we
are spoken of as being SOLD UNDER SIN. However, Jesus
by His death on Calvary paid the ransom price, secured our
release and set us free.
(Jesus died for my sins and paid the price for MY
REDEMPTION, and freed me from slavery to sins and the
devil, who no longer is my master.)
e)Through Jesus, we are ‘reconciled’ to God (Rm 5:9-11; 2
Cor. 5:18, 19; Eph. 2:13-16)
Reconcile = make friendly after estrangement; make
compatible; harmonize “(Oxford) Gk “to change
thoroughly” i.e. From a position of enmity with God, to one
of peace with God.

13. A regular question is “How can God of love allow sinners to go to
hell?”
1. Mankind was SEPARATED from God because of sin. (There is no
fellowship between darkness and light, nor between that which is
Holy and that which is unholy. (2 Cor. 6:14, 15)
2. God’s laws had been broken (Sin is the transgression of the law) (Jn.
3:4) and therefore justice was required.
Although God is a God of love, He would have been DENYING HIS
OWN CHARACTER if he hadn’t required justice – for He also is a
JUST God. Therefore God in His love made His own PROVISION
for man to be RECONCILED to Himself, by sending His OWN Son
to die as our substitute. (Jn. 3:16; Rm. 5:8)
THUS GOD DEMOSTRATED NOT ONLY HIS LOVE BUT ALSO
HIS JUSTICE
