2. Who Gave Us The Good News?
2
The One who created everything. His Name is God. He is greater than anyone or
anything. All that God has created depends on Him for existence. Everything is His and
He sustains everything, every second of every day. Human beings are God’s most special
creation and God wants every person in the world to know Him.
3. How Can We Know God?
3
God reveals Himself to us through His creation and His word, the Bible. Let’s turn to the
Bible to see how God reveals Himself to us.
Genesis 1:1 - God is our Creator.
Romans 1:19-20 – God has revealed Himself through what He has created.
Psalm 139:1-18 - God is all powerful, all knowing, and ever present.
Matthew 5:48 - God is Perfect and requires us to be perfect.
Daniel 4:37 - God is Just in all His ways.
Psalm 50:4-6 - God Himself will judge all people.
Psalm 136 – God is a loving and merciful God.
Because of these things God owns us and we are accountable to Him. And God has made it
known how we are to live for Him.
4. How Are We To Live For God?
4
Genesis 2 – God showed the first two humans (Adam and Eve) how they were to live
and be perfectly obedient to Him. He also warned them of something they were not to
do (Genesis 2:17-18). They were forbidden to eat the fruit of a certain tree. God said that if they ate
from the tree they would die.
Genesis 3 - Adam and Eve were approached by someone claiming to be greater than
God. His name was Satan. He is a liar (John 8:44; Revelation 12:10). He told them that if they ate
the fruit of the forbidden tree they could be like God. Adam and Eve listened to him and they ate
the forbidden fruit. They failed to perfectly obey God. This act of disobedience is called sin and it
changed the lives of Adam and Eve, and it changed our lives too because they represented all of
the human race in the garden (1 Corinthians 15:22). We are like Adam and Eve, we cannot
perfectly obey God (Romans 3:23). All people have sinned against God. The penalty of sin must
be dealt with to get right with God.
5. What is The Penalty of Sin?
5
Romans 6:23 – The penalty for sin is death.
Ezekiel 14:7; Ephesians 4:18; Colossians 1:21 - Sin separates us from God and puts us under
God’s judgment. Since we cannot live perfect lives for God, we need help in restoring our
relationship with God, to be set free from eternal death, the penalty for our sins.
6. How Can The Penalty of Sin be Removed?
6
John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-7; Titus 3:5 – God loves you so much that He provided the only
way for the penalty of sin to be removed. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to save you
from the penalty of sin.
2 Corinthians 5:21 - Jesus did this by living a perfect life for you, to satisfy God’s requirement.
But that is not all Jesus had to do.
Romans 5:8 – Jesus also had to die for your sins. He paid the penalty of sin for you.
John 19:16-18 Jesus was crucified on a cross for your sins.
Gal 1:1 / Eph 1:20 – Then God raised Jesus from the dead to show His power over the penalty
of sin. God did this in order for people to come back to Him.
7. How Do I Come back To God?
7
Mark 1:15 / 1 John 1:9 / Romans 10:9-10 - You must repent of your sins, ask God to
forgive you, and put your trust in Jesus. You must believe in Jesus and what He did for
you. If you do, you will receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus.
