2. Clay Courts
Clay courts are made up of
compressed shale, stone or
brick. They are cheap and
easy to install but don't last
long and require a great deal
of maintenance.
Chase Rubin loves to play on
clay courts because the game
is relatively slower and the
ball bounces higher. These
courts also tend to favor
baseline players.
3. Hard Courts
Hard courts are made from sand mixed into a paint coating.
They can range from faster to lower speeds of play depending
on the quantity and size of sand mixed in. From his
experience, Chase Rubin believes that hard courts tend to
equalize the playing field in terms of athletic style.
4. Grass Courts
These type of courts require a
lot of maintenance, so they
aren't as popular today as
they used to be. They are
constantly impacted by the
weather conditions. Grass is
the fastest type of court
because of its low bounce
capacity, which is why they
are the least favorite court
for Chase Rubin to play on.
The players with strong
serves and volley skills
usually play better on these
types of courts.
5. Carpet Courts
Carpet courts are usually removable tennis court surfaces.
They can be made from a variety of materials such as artificial
turf and hard rubber. Carpet courts generally make for a fast
game.
