Host: We have all heard stories about abandoned pets. Animal shelters in the US are full of
unwanted dogs and cats that need good, loving homes. Americans spend as much on food, clothing,
and medical care for their pets as they do for their children. So why are there so many unwanted
animals?
To find out, I talked to pet owners, veterinarians, and people who work in animal shelters. Many of their
stories were difficult to listen to and will certainly cause viewers to feel strong emotions. But there also
many success stories and I will share one of those with you today. It’s about a group of teenagers who
are working hard to help animals. And we hope that their story will motivate other animal lovers to help,
too!
