China’s total seed market value reached USD 8.32 billion in 2009, compared with USD 2.42
billion in 2001, with CAGR of 16.69% from 2001 to 2009. Foreign investment has infused

which is an indication of further business expansion. In September 2010, Bayer CropScience
and Chinese Oil Crops Research Institute (OCRI), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science
(CAAS) reached an agreement on rapeseed research, another symptom of closer cooperation
in the time of a promising seed market. Thus, keeping track of rapid changes on China seed
market is of great value and necessary.
