1. Room 14Term 1, 2013Ms. Mason
Welcome back to school and a special welcome to the Year 7 students as you join us
in the Intermediate Syndicate. I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas
and holiday season. We have a very exciting year to look forward to and it will be
very busy for us all. Tech at Rosehill Intermediate and Spanish lessons are 2 of the
new subjects for Year 7 students this year. Year 8s, I hope you will show your new
classmates ‘the ropes’ for the first few weeks. The Literature Quiz and The Writers
and Readers Festival are also events we can attend as Intermediate students. Our
term finishes with our syndicate camp which will be great fun.
MY EXPECTATIONS:I expect all written work to be your very best. You will have ALL
your equipment with you every day. This means blue AND red pens, pencils, ruler,
rubber, coloured pencils, sharpener, scissors and glue stick. No excuses. As far as
book work goes:all work is to be dated (unless told otherwise) and headings etc. are
to be underlined in red pen. Rule off only when your task is completed. Photocopied
sheets that I hand out are to be aligned and glued in neatly. (Most of the time, they
will not require trimming.) Please do notuse felt pen, vivid or highlighters to colour
in and do not scribble on or mark your book covers inside or out! Unless I specifically
tell you, all work is to be handwritten, not word processed and this includes
homework.
Here are my challenges to you:
Learn to listen carefully-do what you are asked to do not what you ‘think’ you
heard!
Become an independent worker-have faith in yourself that you can ‘do it’.
Produce your very best work……..every time, on time!
Have pride in yourself, your school and your work.
Show initiative by doing just a bit more than is necessary…….find out a little
more, read something extra, don’t stop being interested.
Talk to your parents and extended family about what’s going on in NZ and the
world. Become an informed student.
Try something new!
Refer back to our school values regularly to help keep you on track.
Learning is a treasure that will follow its
owner everywhere
