1. DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY!
!
There are two maxims to live by: either “worry and don’t be happy” or “don’t worry and be
happy.” We have gotten into the mess of point of view by believing so much that the data are
real and that they have some kind of power to affect how we feel. No matter what we have
believed, we can just step back, relax and see what is really going on. From that clear vantage,
it’s a lot easier to really understand the nature of our life. We can also create a powerful life
where we can be of benefit to ourselves and others. !
!
The spontaneous, naturally occurring, self-perfected reality can’t be refined in any way. The
whole idea that it can be refined, corrected, analyzed or indulged is simply another point of view.
Why throw more data into the mix? Just relax and know that nothing need be done.!
!
As you relax, you will have a much clearer understanding of how to live a human life. No matter
how much you believe in needing to correct or comment on what appears, rely on open
intelligence instead. If for instance fear arises, you might think, “If I don’t do something about
this fear, something bad might happen. If I don’t have a way to understand this, maybe it won’t
work out the way I want it to work out.” Rather than going with that story, you maintain open
intelligence as the fear comes to full fruition. The movement of fear comes to full potential as the
dynamic energy of open intelligence, but once you allow it to come to full potential, boom,
spontaneously it vanishes without a trace like a line drawn in water or like the flight path of a
bird in the sky. Then you start to be able to see the obviousness of open intelligence in all
situations. It won’t happen though if you shut down at any point in that process or if you are lost
in your stories. !
!
By relying on open intelligence the story is stopped short, and the tension that would normally
be poured into the story disappears in and of itself. The more restful you become, the less
impulse there is to take up any story. You see that no story is worth having when you compare it
to the benefits of open intelligence. It’s just a very simple choice: “Do I want to be happy, or do I
want to be worried?” We make that choice to be happy by releasing the tension of belief in data.
