Callie Marcum dressed up in a mad hatter costume from Alice in Wonderland and went shopping at Walmart and Sam's Club to see people's reactions. At Walmart, the greeter stared at her in shock and people left aisles to laugh or jokingly asked if she was entertainment for a birthday party. At Sam's Club, she got many stares and questions, with one woman asking if she was with the circus.

For my project I dressed up in my old Halloween costume. I was a mad hatter from Alice
and Wonderland, which is an outfit that would for sure stand out and not be "normal." I went to
two places, Walmart and Sam's Club dressed like this. I wore the makeup, the dress along with
heels and the striped socks. When I went into Walmart I just casually got my buggy and started
strolling through the store like nothing was going on and that i was just shopping. I entered and
the greeter just stared at me like i had a "stupid" written across my forehead, also he did not say a
word i think he was in shock. I continued walking through the store looking at the candle aisle
over to the makeup aisle with lots of stares, one lady went so far as to leave the aisle because she
was about to start laughing, another jokingly asking if i was about to go be entertainment for a
child's birthday party. After this experience I went next door to Sam's Club, which is also another
grocerydepartment store. I walked in just like i did at Walmart, I got my buggy and started
roaming through the store and various aisles. I got a lot of stares, looks, and also lots of questions
from everyone. I went down one aisle and a lady asked if I was with the circus, I replied no and
she said "hmmm I would've thought so."
