Re: Professional Plan
Goals:
I will investigate new topics and the latest technologies for teaching and
learning AP Computer Science with the Java programming language.
Objectives:
It is my intention to help students to effectively design algorithms and
fluently code programs in Java. I will become proficient at writing programs in
Java. I will investigate the latest teaching techniques for AP Computer Science. I
will research the web and related listservs for the best textbooks, lab books and
syllabi to help students learn Java and do well on the new AP.
Activities:
I will attend conferences related to programming in Java.
I will explore ways to incorporate this new programming language into
the AP Computer Science curriculum.
I will review literature pertinent to Computer Science.
I will learn to use Java and Linux together.
I will interview current teachers and professors of Java to find the best
methodologies for teaching Computer Science with Java.
I will research types of cooperative activities for the students to
experiment with this new technology.
Evaluation:
I will keep a log of all new activities and technologies I discover and
find useful for the teaching of Computer Science with Java and Linux. I will
assess how the use of these techniques has improved student performance,
understanding and retention of the new topics in AP Computer Science by
conferring with AP teachers and professors already using Java.
