Reform Movement What does the word reform mean to you? Any synonyms that could replace it?? Examples Healthcare, Education, etc. Is there anything you would like to reform???
Reform Movement Goal The Goal was to work to improve society by helping the needy Little to No Government help Done through churches or charity
Charity Organization Movement Wanted immigrants to adopt American middle class standards of cooking, cleaning, etc Haven’t we seen this before???
Social Gospel Movement Provided social services to the poor by applying the gospel teachings directly to society
Settlement Movement Developed community centers within poor urban settings rather than just giving money to the poor
Final Analysis Look at all three reforms together What was “core” goal?? Promoted giving back idea Today: “Paying it forward”
Compare and Contrast Ideas How do you like to help? Things you have done? Organizations that help?
Selling Your Idea Create a proposal or advertisement to convince an investor to support your idea What is it? What is it going to do?  Location? Costs? Why Should they support it Design = Logo, Building, etc. How will this help?
