2. Prophet Ayyub
•From the descendants of Prophet Is’haq
bin Ibrahim
•He was given great wealth
•Had many pious children & a big family

3. Calamity strikes
1. All of his children died
2. His wealth was taken away instantly
3. He was afflicted with all sorts of
diseases; some narration; 3 years, 7
years, 18 years etc.

4. Ayyub’s attitude when afflicted with difficulties
His wife once said:
“Ya Ayyub, if you were to pray to God, surely He
would get you out of this troubled times.”
Ayyub a.s said:
“I was given (good) health for 70 years, it is only
proper that I would also be patient for 70 years”.

When his wealth was taken away, Ayub A.S said:
“All praises to Allah who has given it & has
taken it”

َ‫ن‬‫ِي‬‫د‬ِ‫ب‬‫َا‬‫ع‬ْ‫ل‬ِ‫ل‬ ‫َى‬‫ر‬ْ‫ك‬ِ‫ذ‬َ‫و‬ ‫َا‬‫ن‬ِ‫د‬‫ِن‬‫ع‬
And Ayyub, when he called to his Lord,
"Indeed, hardship has touched me, and you are the Most
Merciful of the merciful.”
So We responded to him, and removed what afflicted him of
difficulty.
And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them
as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah].
[Al-Anbiya’: 83-84]

7. ,‫دينه‬ ‫حسب‬ ‫على‬ ‫الرجل‬ ‫يبتلى‬ ;‫فاألمثل‬ ‫األمثل‬ ‫ثم‬ ‫األنبياء‬ ً‫ء‬‫بال‬ ‫الناس‬ ‫أشد‬
,‫دينه‬ ‫قدر‬ ‫على‬ ‫ابتلي‬ ٌ‫ة‬‫رق‬ ‫دينه‬ ‫ف‬ ‫كان‬ ‫وإن‬ ,‫بالئه‬ ‫اشتد‬ ‫صلب‬ ‫دينه‬ ‫ف‬ ‫كان‬ ‫فإن‬
‫خطيئة‬ ‫من‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫وما‬ ,‫األرض‬ ‫على‬ ‫ميشي‬ ‫يتركه‬ ‫حتى‬ ,‫بالعبد‬ ‫البالء‬ ‫يبرح‬ ‫فما‬

“The greatest test for humankind are upon the Prophets,
and then those who follow (after it in ranks)….”

8. What is our reaction when we
are faced with difficulties?

9. A Faithful Wife
• Ayyub’s A.S. Wife was with him through hard times
• Ayyub A.S. literally had nothing left to give; he couldn’t even
clean himself. But she stood by her husband anyway
• She even had to work as a house cleaner, to provide necessities;
& also had to take care of Ayyub A.S. She even sold her hair
• Marriage & love is also about being together through rough
times; not just through laughters

And remember Our servant Ayyub, when he called to his Lord,
"Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment.”
[So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a
[spring for] a cool bath and drink.”
And We granted him his family and a like [number] with them
as mercy from Us and a reminder for those of understanding.
His difficulties were lifted

A. How should we handle & react to difficulties
properly? & What is the first thing we should
do?
B. What are the characteristics of a Faithful wife?

1. Our faith should not be based on blessings
only; with or without blessings, we should
remember Allah
2. Tests & troubled times are blessings too; our
sins are being cleansed
3. Marriage is a commitment: Spouses need to
Stick through the hard times too
