Joan visited in 2000 to give the first workshop (CDDS) and
since then has visited at least every two years for more
workshops.
DDS was licensed with Deakin University from 2016 so
Joan also visited to provide workshops in Melbourne in
recent years, and enjoyed the Australian tennis and the
Melbourne food and gallery scene.
Online training discussions started in 2018 when Joan
was Australia.
NSW Ombudsman’s Office and the Victorian
Discrimination Commissioner, investigating deaths of
people with disability or in residential care, noting that
choking is the second highest cause of preventable death.
The rate of these deaths is not reducing over time.
