1. The story of my life
Someone told me once to write down whatever comes to my mind, and I thought
what about writing my own biography, it would be useful at least for my
grandchildren to understand in what context their grandfather lived. I would like to
start saying that my name is Martin Urrutipi, I was born in Spain in 1919. My parents
decided to move due to a plague that took many lives, including my sister`s. My
father raised me and my five brothers on a farm rather closed Pamplona, it was a
beautiful place to live, all citizen were gentle and respectful. At the age of ten, the
Crack of Wall street destroyed our economic status and my father was forced to get
rid of every property he owned. That`s when we migrated to South America,
specifically Argentina, because few neighbours told us they had relatives there and
said it was a beautiful country, full of job opportunities.
Whe we arrived at the port of Buenos Aires my father told us not to give up against
any difficulties. So I did. My two older brothers and I began working at a restaurant
called “Las Ramblitas”, I was eleven years old by then. At the age of twenty I met the
love of my life. She was a pretty lady called Alcira, but she was three years younger,
so I had to wait a year to propose her because her father didn`t want me to have any
deals with her. As soos as she was eighteen, I took her by her arm and asked her if
she would marry me, and luckily she accepted. We went to live to a city called
Llavallol, it was a nice place then and there I got the best job of my life, in Firestone
where I retired. With time we had five beautiful kids and lived happily ever after.
