7. What Measures taken by NBTC
1. Blood Bank to Blood Bank Transfer
2. Private Hospital Based Blood Banks allowed to go for outdoor
camps
3. SBTC Maharastra
9. What We need NOW
Each hospital must be made to publicly disclose
the collection of blood from truly voluntary
blood donors versus blood donors who have
been forced to donate because the hospital
asked the family to organise donors (whatever
name the hospitals choose to give to cover up
this grave malpractice)
10. What We need NOW
Each blood bank must be asked to share a plan on
how they are going to move from their current
level of replacement donation to zero
replacement in a time bound manner and the
reporting of this should be integrated with the
existing systems of monitoring blood banking.
11. What We need NOW
There should be clear messaging from National
Blood Transfusion Council and other regulatory
bodies strongly condemning, discouraging and
legally limiting the process of replacement blood
donation
12. What We need NOW
• SBTCs to take monthly report from Private Hospital based Blood
banks regarding -
a) the outdoor/indoor blood donation conducted by them and the
number of donors in each camp.
b) Batch No. of Blood Bags issued for in house patients and patients
from other hospitals.
• Real time stock status digitally displayed outside blood bank
13. What We need NOW
• Proper functioning of Eraktkosh
• Educating the SBTCs regarding the National Blood Policy
