- 1. My wife usually wakes up with puffy eyes and sometimes due to work stress, without sleeping well would develop dark circles or blue-toned bags under her eyes. After some research, these are some of these natural remedies and would work to a certain degree. Hope this would help you a little. 1. Cold Spoon This simple home remedy is surprisingly very effective. It will help tighten up the skin around your eyes as well as relax the blood vessels, thus offering relief to puffy and tired eyes. a) Chill 5 or 6 metal spoons in your refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. b) Hold the rounded portion of one of the cold spoons against your eye for a few minutes until the spoon becomes warm. c) As the spoon warms, replace it with another cold one from the refrigerator. 2. Cucumbers Chilled cucumbers make a good remedy for treating puffy eyes. The enzymes and the astringent properties in cucumbers help reduce inflammation and help tighten the skin. This remedy will also help get rid of wrinkles and dark circles around your eyes. a) Cut a cucumber into thick slices. b) Chill the slices in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. c) Place the cold slices on your eyelids for about 10 minutes or until they become warm. d) Repeat the process several times a day. 3. Tea Bags Be it green tea bags or black tea bags, both can help soothe puffy and irritated eyes. They contain anti-irritant properties that help reduce swelling around your eyes. They can also relieve redness and inflammation. a) Soak 2 teabags in hot water for a few minutes, then take them out and let them cool down. b) Lie down, put the tea bags over your eyelids and cover them with a soft cloth. c) Leave them in place for 10 to 15 minutes. d) Repeat a few times a day. 4. Eye Cream If you are not allergic to cosmetics products, you might want to consider this oil-free formula. Tap lightly on the targeted areas and remain expressionless. Potatoes are said to have natural astringent properties. a) Peel raw potatoes. Cut in half. Place the halves over your eyes for 10 minutes. The potato will cool your eyes and any swelling will decrease. b) Try grated potato. Simply grate a fresh potato and apply it to your eyes for 15 minutes, then rinse.
