iBRIDGE Berlin Conference
The Berkeley Program on Entrepreneurship and development in the Middle East is a novel initiative to
conduct research, publish educational materials, hold conferences, and offer policy recommendations on
the promotion and sustenance of entrepreneurship in the context of open societies, economies, and polities
in the Middle East and North Africa region.
In pursuit of our mission, we served as a sponsor for the convening of a three day conference in Berlin
entitled “iBRIDGE Berlin—High Technology Entrepreneurship in Iran: Opportunities and Challenges”
on June 4-6, 2015. iBRIDGE Berlin was the sequel to iBRIDGE Berkeley, a highly successful conference
on the potentials and pitfalls of Iran’s high-tech sector, which was held at UC Berkeley on September 6,
2014, and managed to attract more than 700 enthusiastic participants from across the world.
The Berlin conference brought some of the most prominent American, European, Iranian, and Middle
Eastern thought leaders and high-technology entrepreneurs together, and featured dozens of plenary
sessions and panels on social and business entrepreneurship in general as well as the obstacles and spurs
to Iran’s emergence as a regional hi-tech hub in the post-sanctions period. This educational conference
followed closely last year’s event at Berkeley and, like its predecessor, was in full compliance with
American and European Union sanctions laws and regulations concerning Iran. About 1,100 attendees
from the US, Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, and Iran participated in the conference.
The large number of sessions, speakers, and attendees made it necessary for the conference organizers and
sponsors to draw upon the support of more than one hundred volunteers for the purpose of selecting and
reaching out to speakers, coordinating schedules, assigning speakers to appropriate panels, and handling
conference logistics and operations.
We certify that Mr. Bahram Mohammadi served on the operations team of iBRIDGE Berlin as a
volunteer, and worked diligently for the glitchless and successful convening of the conference.
Bahram demonstrated an exceptional willingness to go out of his way to attend to the needs of the large
and diverse conference attendees and participants. The service and participation standards we set for our
volunteers were high and extensive. He did more. He took the initiative to ensure that assigned tasks were
completed with the utmost efficiency and care.
Bahram was recognized by his peers as a productive, punctual, and collegial colleague, who took pride in
the services he was rendering, and was unfazed by the not infrequent schedule changes and the overtime
requirements.
In addition to being organizationally competent, Bahram was adept interpersonally, and was respected by
his peers. He had a good sense of humor and was fun to work with. Bahram worked well independently
or with a team. He functioned effectively as a member, and could assume the position of leadership with
ease. Speakers, attendees, and other volunteers were unanimous in the lavish praise they heaped on
Bahram for his energy, positive attitude, and high professional standards.
Sincerely,
Dariush Zahedi
