2. From the beginning of the film the use of sounds
has played a major role in creating suspense ,
fear, and has manipulated the audiences
emotion. In the opening sequence the sounds
are very daunting it almost sounds like ghosts
looking for help this creates anticipation on
what the film will show next . It also creates a
creepy atmosphere.
3. • This film most definitely conforms to the idea
horror and shows us as the audience a lot of
its sub genres. Ultimate horror is conveyed
through out the film. Like when we see then
twins dead on the floor this is also
emotionally manipulative to us as the
audience. Unthinkable horror is also seen
when Danny is attacked in room 237, as we do
not expect an adult to attack an innocent
child.
4. • One thing that I really like in this film apart the excellent
use of sound to convey horror, is the character choice of
using a little kid as the leading character. This is because
children usually represent innocence joy etc. but when
being used in a horror film it destroys that innocence
giving the audience the terror of the unimaginable. This is
portrayed when we see Danny talking to his finger at first
we would think this is normal for a child as the film
progresses we are able to see that his finger tells things
that will happen in the future this is almost frightening to
the audience because it not something we associated with
children. This is something I will take into consideration
when making my film.
