• Federal Office for agriculture, environment and rural
areas is in charge of the control of our air pollution
• In Lübeck there are 2 permanent checkpoints
• 2011
– Low air pollutant emissions
– Limit values for Particulates were not exceeded
– Limit values for annual average concentration of nitrogen
dioxide were exceeded
• Carbon monoxide is not measured too low
pollutions since 2009
• Lübeck is the 17th cleanest city (of 42 tested cities) in
Germany

15. Encouraging reasons
to travel sustainably
• To save our environment
• Protect wildlife (less wildlife accidents with bikes than cars)
• Stay fit go by bike
• Cheaper (using bikes instead of cars) save gas save
money
• No traffic jams save time
• Better conscience about economy
