1. A WALK AROUND ELECTROSTAL
Anton Sysoyev, Form 9A, Lyceum 14,
Electrostal Moscow Region

2. A Russian
proverb says
’There is no place
like home’. It
means that your
motherland is
the place you
always want to
come back to.
We want to
undertake a
guided walking
tour round our
town to see what
makes it original
and attractive.
2
3. Dear ladies and
gentlemen! We’re
glad to see you in
our town, which is
famous for its
steel works
‘Electrostal’.
Last year we
celebrated the
75th anniversary
of the town of
Electrostal.
3
4. You can see the
Sovremennik
Cinema . It is the
place where the
citizens of the
town can relax
and enjoy
themselves.
Every day it is
visited by
hundreds of
people.
4
5. Right opposite the
Sovremennik
Cinema you can
see School No.13.
Despite its
‘unlucky’number, it
is, actually, one of
the luckiest schools
in our town. This
school won the
prize some time
ago and the money
was spent on
making repairs.
Now it looks proud
and happy in its
shiny new exterior.
5
6. Let’s walk to the
centre of the
town… You can
see the building
of the Town
Council where the
Mayor of the
town of
Electrostal works.
It’s on the right.
6
7. Now, this is the
sight which is
familiar to
practically all the
pupils of our
town. It’s the New
Institute of the
Humanities and
the school of
foreign languages.
A lot of foreign
languages are
taught here.
7
8. We are walking
along Mir Street.
You can see the
central square
named after V. I.
Lenin. Just near
the centre of the
square is the
Crystal Ice Palace.
It’s the home to
our town hockey
team.
8
9. We go on walking
along the
boulevard that
leads to the
October Culture
Centre.
9
10. Let’s take the first
turning on the
right. You can see
Lyceum 14. We
study here. Our
lyceum gives its
pupils profound
knowledge of
Mathematics and
Physics. Students
are offered a wide
choice of elective
subjects. We are
sure that our
education here
will form a basis
for our future
education.
10
11. Now we are going
towards the
Eternal Flame…
It’s the place that
connects us with
our relatives who
died to defend
our Motherland.
It helps us to learn
more about
veterans of the
Great Patriotic
War.
11
12. More than 11.000
citizens of
Electrostal
displayed courage
and heroism
during the Great
Patriotic War.
Electrostal was
awarded the
honourary title of
the City of
Military and
Labour Glory.
12
13. This is the end
of our walking
tour… We
suppose you like
our town. We
have not shown
you the plants
and factories,
because we
think they can
be the theme of
another special
tour.
13
14. If you look at the
map of the
Moscow Region
you can find a
small point on it,
our native town
Electrostal. It is
not very big but it
is a special place
to us because we
were born and
live here.
14
15. We wish our
home town a long
and happy life and
we do hope that
Electrostal will
become the place
where everyone
feels that they
belong.
