Falcon's Invoice Discounting: Your Path to Prosperity
Silvertone guitars powerpoint
1.
2. The Beginnings
•
Starting just before WWII, Silvertone made
the first widely affordable guitars.
•
Yet, Silvertone wasn’t actually a guitar
manufacturer.
•
It was actually the name stamped on a line of
guitars in the Sears catalog.
•
In 1972 however, Sears shut down the line.
3. The Rebirth
• In 2005, the Silvertone name was acquired by
Samick Musical Instruments.
• Samick found an abundance of fans of
Silvertones on Silvertoneworld.com.
• Out of the 150 models on this website, Samick
chose two models for the first reissue of these
guitars.
6. How to do it…
• The Samick team bought two originals on eBay.
• The team also turned to Wishbook.com for
decades of Sears catalogs to acquire details for
the specs of these guitars.
• They then reversed engineered each guitar so
the new models would replicate the originals
completely (kinda).
7. Old but New
• One of the first things changed was the neck
profile.
• It went from the original Silvertone’s “table
leg” construction to a soft, CNC-machined “C”
profile.
• Masonite bodies were traded for resonant
solid mahogany.
• “It now capture’s the essence of a
Silvertone, but in a modern guitar way.”
8. $$PRICE$$
• In the mid 60’s, when a Fender Stratocaster
sold for $3oo, the Silvertone could be
purchased for around $80.
• This also, was something that Samick wanted
to emulate with the rebirth.
• The first two Silvertones have been priced
under $1,000.
• 1478 being $899
• 1303 being $525
9. New Editions
• There are three new Silvertones that were
previewed at the summer NAMM show in 2013.
