Foreword
It is with great pride and honor that I
commend Atty. Alvin T. Claridades for the
assiduous efforts he exerted in coming up
with this legal lexicon, a no mean feat
considering the enormous time and
resources he poured into it to be able to
gather all the materials required to produce
a compendium of definitions from which
we, lawyers and laymen alike, would
tremendously benefit.
It is indeed laudable that a great idea such as this was
conceived by our former student at the then fledgling PUP College
of Law who thought of jotting down from his classroom lessons and
readings from various publications all the legal and jurisprudential
definitions that he encountered while he was still pursuing his law
degree. That he did it not for any economic nor self-serving reasons
but purposely for the more paramount interest of easing the dearth
of legal research materials especially in state universities such as
the PUP where he came from made this brainchild of his all the
more worthy of our acclaim and support.
Allow me, therefore, the liberty of expressing my sincerest
appreciation to Atty. Claridades for unselfishly sharing his immense
work with our “Iskolar ng Bayan” as well as with those of us in the
legal profession who would need the wealth of knowledge and
information that this opus would impart.
