Early Life
 He was born March 16, 1751 in Port Conway, Virginia.
 He was the oldest of 12 children.
 Five of his brothers and sisters died as kids.
 His parents were slave owners and had a tobacco
  plantation.
 In 1769 he went to the College of
  New Jersey which is now Princeton
  University.
Member of Congress
 He was called the Father of the Constitution because
  he wrote the Constitution.
 The constitution told all of the rights citizens had.
 The constitution was written because the Articles of
  Confederation was weak.
President of the United States
 He was the 4th President of the United States.
 He ran against DeWitt Clinton to be president again.
 He was re-elected in 1812.
 During the war of 1812, Madison
  had to leave the White House
  because the British set it on fire.
Life After Being President
 He retired.
 He went to live on his tobacco
  plantation in Virginia.
 Member of the Board of Visitor’s for the University of
  Virginia.
 Died from heart failure and rheumatism on June 28,
  1836.
 His picture is on the $200 and $5000 bill.
Family
 He was married in 1794, to Dolley Payne Todd.
 He didn’t have any kids.
