2. HOW IT'S FORMED
Çanakkale is a city in Turkey. In World War I, Çanakkale was a critic region. So we sent
thousands of soldiers to Çanakkale. The war was though, we lost over fifty thousand soldiers
of ours according to the Ottoman sources.
We lost our soldiers, but mothers lost their sons, wifes lost their husbands and children lost
their fathers. Therefore they lamented to express their sorrow and those laments formed
Çanakkale Folk Song.
