I am originally trained as an occupational physician (OP) and worked in the field for 14 years. Then I shifted to freelance journalism and had my own business for 10 years. After that I stepped into the (academic) world of knowledge generation and transfer in the field of work and health. Occupational diseases became my major topic: how to recognize them, how to monitor them and how to prevent them in the first place. Being an OP as well as a journalist gave me the qualifications to be responsible for knowledge dissemination to professionals as well as employers, employees and policymakers.
