At TPC Dorado Beach
February - May
About a third of our participants come from outside of
Dorado, and a majority of them are not from Tasis school. In
April, we upgraded our equipment, switching from plastic to
real golf clubs and from tennis balls to golf balls, which has
made the experience more authentic for the participants.
Additionally, we made the transition to an age-based
curriculum in April, which has allowed us to better tailor our
classes to each age group's needs.

Invitation to Junior Clinic

The Dorado Beach Collegiate was hosted at the TPC Dorado
Beach Sugarcane Course. Our participants were invited to
join the junior clinic taught by the Third Place Winners,
UNC Greensboro Men's Golf Team, at TPC Dorado Beach's
range.
Two of their team's players, who participated in First Tee
during their childhood and adolescence, talked to our kids
about their experience in First Tee and how being in the
program set them up to be successful young adults in
college and become a part of the UNC Greensboro Men's
Golf Team. Our kids still rave about the incredible
opportunity of meeting the team members and coach and
being taught a one-on-one lesson by collegiate golf players.

5. We collaborated with Puerto Rico Open to offer our donors a
special package, which included seating in the Fairway
Trophy Room Bacardi Lounge with food, drinks, and
parking. PR Open donated 20% of the special package
purchases to First Tee - Puerto Rico.
We also invited our youth to attend the tournament and
enjoy the festivities. The kids were thrilled to catch a
glimpse of Rafa Campos as they attended the tournament.
They also discovered the intricacies of the game's
regulations, and witnessing professional golfers in action
motivated them to continue their own golfing journey.
It was interesting to see how the tournament
spectators became silent when a player was
going to hit the ball to not distract them.

At our booth in the Member & Guest Tournament hosted by
TPC Dorado Beach, we met prospective donors, volunteers,
and partners. Additionally, we hosted a fun Skills
Challenge that attracted over 40 individuals, who also
signed up for our Newsletter. The Skills Challenge raffle
prize was 24 dozen Pro V Golf Balls, and Mike Ayesh was
the lucky winner who took home the entire prize. We are
grateful for everyone's support and look forward to
continuing our mission with their help.

Invitation to Women's
Golf Day Event
At Río Bayamón Golf Course
June 6
Staff, participants, and parents from First Tee - Puerto Rico
were invited to participate in this year's edition of Women's
Golf Day, hosted at Río Bayamón Golf Course. The purpose
of this 2-day event that takes place globally is to shine a
light on the opportunities golf can provide, both
professionally as well as in life, and all the women who
work (often behind the scenes) to propel the sport and its
athletes forward.
First Tee - Puerto Rico had representation on both event
days, where staff, participants, and mothers were able to
play on the course and simulators. This was a great
opportunity to network and connect with the golf
community in Puerto Rico, meet potential collaborators and
sponsors, as well as raise awareness of our young chapter
and all we have to offer.

Coach Training
6 | FirstTeePuertoRico.org
At First Tee Headquarters in Connecticut
June 9-11
Head Coach Luis Bellaflores had the pleasure of attending
Level 2 Coach Training at First Tee Headquarters in
Connecticut last month. There he was able to get to know the
wonderful facilities, tailor-made for the needs of the First
Tee Community, and the group of around 30 staff both
offering as well as attending the training. This HQ-led
national training emphasizes instruction for ages 10 through
13 and intermediate-level coaching strategies. Coaches were
also able to share personal experiences and offer best
practices and feedback.
One of our main goals for the rest of the year is to continue
training both existing and incoming staff to enrich our
growing programs and to be able to host local Coach
Trainings by 2024.
We thank Coach Luis for his commitment to Golf and First
Tee - Puerto Rico!

Meeting with Public School Casiano
Cepeda
June 6
During our meeting with the Director of the public school
Casiano Cepeda, it was decided that the First Tee School
Program will be implemented in their school starting in
August. We will help them prepare practice areas in their
facilities where the students can practice golf in their free
time. The Director, a golfer trained for First Tee programming,
has quickly become our ally and champion with the
Department of Education. The goal is to gradually expand the
program throughout Puerto Rico, which aims to provide
students with skills and values through golf lessons and
activities.
Meeting with Public Charter School
Vimenti by Boys & Girls Club of Puerto
Rico
June 13
We are happy to announce we will be offering School and
Community Programming to Vimenti by Boys & Girls Club of
Puerto Rico in this upcoming fall. Their school will also serve
as a collection center for our golf club and equipment drives.
The collected equipment will be distributed throughout the
regions where we are establishing programming.
Meeting with Palmas
April 21
Palmas del Mar and First Tee - Puerto Rico have reached a
mutual agreement to initiate the On the Golf Course and
School Programs in Fall. The programs will be conducted
within the Palmas del Mar facilities, providing access to a
state-of-the-art golf course and tailored educational
activities. Our teams are now fully engaged in preparing the
necessary logistics and finalizing the details to ensure a
successful launch of this exciting initiative.
