1. Polished 'Stones' is full of character
By Gina Perille, Boston Globe 10/2/2003
... the fluttering of an eyelid, the cadence of speech, and the
bending of the back that define a character's identity. And, in
"Stones," it all happens at lightning speed ... . It's a challenging
way to tell a story ... . Each character is a link in a sort of daisy-
chain-meets-funhouse structure that rumbles through comedy,
tragedy, and cacophony ... director Zoya Kachadurian ... yields
a polished performance in Gloucester.
Stones works
By Robert Nesti, Boston Herald 9/24/2003
this production, which is so engagingly acted and
directed (by Zoya Kachadurian) as to fully
reveal the comedy's subtle strengths. ...
"Stones in his Pocket," a co-production with the
Stoneham Theatre, where it moves next month, well
worth taking in.
Director Zoya Kachadurian, a television producer and
Broadway stage manager, involved with the national tour of
the play, obviously has the skills to guide these two fine
actors through the puzzles of the script, including scenes
where the two switch back and forth between up to six characters
in the space of a few minutes. The result is a show which
flirts with cliches, using satire in the truest sense to make
a fairly serious point.
