2. What Causes Global
Warming?
• There are more and more greenhouse
gases in the atmosphere, more heat is
trapped which makes the Earth warmer.
• GREENHOUSE GASES
water vapor carbon dioxide
Methane
nitrous oxide
ozone
• Deforestation (cutting down trees).
Trees soak up carbon dioxide, one of
the greenhouse gases, from the air.
3. Effects of Global Warming
• Ice is melting worldwide
• Animals living
• Sea levels are expected to rise between 7
and 23 inches (18 and 59cm) by the end of
the century
• Precipitation (rain and snowfall) has
increased across the globe, on average
• Ecosystems will change
• Some diseases will spread
• Hurricanes and other storms are likely to
become stronger
4. What Can We Do?
Conservation
•Reduce energy needs
•Recycling
Alternate energy sources
•Nuclear
•Wind
•Geothermal
•Hydroelectric(water)
•Solar
•biofuels (produced from crops)
