A resident of McLennan County for 50 years, Willie Tompkins brings a wealth of
experience and qualifications to the 2016 race for Sheriff. He has Master’s degrees in both
Education and Divinity besides the Law Enforcement Credentials he brings to the office. Among
these are:
• 600 Hours police training at the Waco Police Academy
• Waco Police Dept. as Patrolman, Undercover Vice & Narcotics
• Promoted to Detective in less than 9 Years
• U. S. Army training in explosives & sabotage devices
• Chief of Investigations McLennan Cnty. District Atty. Office for 7 years
• Chief of Police McLennan Community College
He received additional training in several critical areas of Law Enforcement expertise,
among those:
• Drug Enforcement at the Heart of Texas Regional Police Academy
• Southwest Texas State University Crime Prevention Institute
• Heart of Texas Council of Government Regional Police Academy in Loss

Tompkins was an instructor at the Waco Police Academy and at the Heart of Texas
Regional Police Academy, proving his ability to work with and coordinate the activities of those
under him.
