Entrepreneurial
Seattle, Washington – February 2014 to present
● Development of automated data collection, and control systems for automation of
intensive/urban agricultural systems, e.g., moisture control and measurement, Sunlight
journaling, various temperatures, CO2/O2 levels.
● Mostly focused on development using the Raspberry Pi SBC (single board computer)
platform.
● Development of knowledge to take off the shelf home and gardening tools, and
automate collection of their output, i.e., figuring out how to take (or make from scratch) a
soil moisture measurement tool and have its output entered into a system.
● Currently focused on multiinput ‘green energy’ collection system from geothermal
ambient warmth, small scale wind turbine, and ‘solar furnace’ complementary systems.
Specifically looking to make a system that reaches a cost beneficial economy of scope,
as opposed to scale, for the DIY market.
HTC Global Services at State Farm, Systems Analyst
Bloomington, Illinois – January 2013 to February 2014
● Developed a system for the collection of configuration item (CI) data across the
StateFarm enterprise using following tools and technology,
● SharePoint Designer 2013 to create team project sites, cross group workflows, and
presenting project information to the various stakeholders. (Spreadsheets, docs, etc.)
● PowerShell scripts, and the Excel Services REST API, to collect persistent data kept on
various SharePoint 2010 and 2013 deployments owned by other parts of the
enterprise. Also utilized JavaScript UDF and OData technologies introduced with
SharePoint 2013 for the collection and setting of information across Excel Web
Access Web Parts on SharePoint pages.
● Developed with F#, COGNOS (through Query Studio and MASHup), and SQL (usually
by Query Expressions in F# to utilize LINQ) tools for the processing of CI data in bulk
from both structured and semi-structured data sources. A central challenge in the
project was to review hundreds of thousands of CI from over the course of ten years.
Coded algorithms for determining a CI actual status, ownership, ticket history, and
other data points needed to be collected from non-integrated data sources, under
separate data models, and updated to a new centralized data model. Then wrote
tools to test new relationships between CIs, gather stakeholder sign off, and continue
monitoring CI data day to day as the old environments and service delivery model
have stayed live, to ensure the data does not go stale again before a new CMDB and
2. Service Manager tool are live later this year.
● Conducting analysis of service management methodologies and tools during migration to
new enterprise service management tool suite; specifically identifying issues of business
knowledge collection and retention as it relates to enterprise level IT systems offered as
services to both internal and external customers.
● Leading the coordination of internal employees and external associates to deliver
business actionable data and reporting of current state of service configuration
management. Also heading up coordination efforts to normalize and migrate current CI
database to new platform.
Trading Technologies, Systems Analyst
Chicago, Illinois – January 2007 to April 2012
● Performed analysis of project management methodologies and tools during
the establishment of a Program Management Office within the company;
specifically identifying issues of business knowledge collection and retention
as it related to enterprise wide projects.
● Developed the business case for Enterprise Project Management.
● Established the business and technical requirements for a SaaS ERP solution
● Worked with SaaS solution provider throughout implementation to deliver
services to the business and verified that business case requirements were
met.
● Worked directly with the CTO to provide enterprise data tools and business
process information. Specifically focused on how the various departments in
the enterprise shared information, working to identify where relevant items
were not being communicated between all relevant stakeholders.
● Gathered, developed, and analyzed process metrics to determine the impact,
and validate the design of production environment change control, customer
onboarding, and problem management processes introduced by the CTO.
● Developed and analyzed business processes for IT operations as well as
electronic securities trading.
