Intern Learns Patient Care Skills at Marryview Foundation
1. Internship Review
Within my time at Marryview Foundation as an intern, I learned several different things. One of
the first things I learned was how to check in or out the patients. I also learned how to schedule
appointments. With time I soon learned how to scan in the patient’s paperwork into their files in
the Epic program. To schedule any appointments or to check the patient’s in or out we used a
different program. That program was Athena Connector. Athena also made it so much easier for
me to know what the patient’s birthday was so I could scan in certain paperwork into their file as
well. From answering the phones to scanning in paper work, I remained busy and didn’t stop
until all my work was complete. I do know that because I am a quick learner, Mrs. Tina enjoyed
having me there. I was able to get so much paperwork scanned in for her so she could continue to
work on making sure that patients knew to get their labs done before it was time for their
appointments. I can say that I enjoyed my time there and wish that I could have stayed. Mrs. Tina
was a great teacher and kept me entertained while I was there. All the staff at the Marryview
Foundation were very welcoming to me. I enjoyed all the personalities that I worked with their.
